How to Check Your Barclaycard Credit Card Application Status

Anyone who has applied for a valuable credit card welcome bonus that equates to free travel knows it can be a bit unnerving when you are waiting for a decision on a pending application.

Why Did Your Barclays Credit Card Application Go Pending?

Of course when you apply for a new credit card you hope to be instantly approved. However, if your application goes pending this isn't necessarily a bad thing, and is certainly not uncommon.

In many cases it's likely the credit card issuer may just need to verify some information (income, address, etc) about you or simply need more time to process your application.

In either case, most credit card issuers allow you to easily check your credit card application after you have applied, this includes Barclaycard.

Barclaycard offers an easy way to check your recent credit card application status online. All you need to do is enter some of your personal details used in your credit card application directly on Barclaycard's website.

The information needed to pull up your credit card application status includes:

• Last name
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
• ZIP Code
• Email address

After submitting this information you should be able to see your submitted applications and the current status showing either approved, pending, or denied.

If your application was approved then you should also see the date when it was approved and the credit line. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe this stays in the system for up to 90 days.

Barclaycard Reconsideration Phone Numbers

Of course you also have the option to call in over the phone to check the status of your Barclaycard credit card application.

There are benefits of calling into the reconsideration line and it may be helpful in getting approved for a credit card if you were initially denied. Your application may have been denied for an various different reasons and calling in to the reconsideration line can often change a denial to an approval if all you need is to verify some information you submitted.

If your application status goes pending or is initially denied it helps to be pro-active and to can into the reconsideration line to out the reason. This simply means to call and give the representative your information so they can pull up your application and to also offer if you can give any additional information to assist in the process.

Normally the representative will take a minute to review your application and ask several verification questions.

Calling in to talk directly to a credit card analyst with the bank gives you the benefit to verify information and often have you credit card application process immediately.

Plus, on top of that it provides you a reason to explain why you are interested in getting the card and offer to move credit from an existing credit line if you have one.
